Coeur d'Alene NE Zone Pressure Enhancements

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Welch Comer Engineers created and analyzed a water system model for the city of Coeur d’Alene to determine the necessary improvements to increase pressure to the Northeast zone. The option constructed, minimized disturbance to the public by utilizing public Right-of-Way and easement negotiated by Welch Comer Engineers.

Welch Comer Engineers worked with businesses, government agencies and public right-of-way timelines and schedules to minimize the impact. The total lineal feet of pipe placed was approximately 2.5 miles. The large diameter pipe moves water from the reservoir location to the low pressure area. As a result, some small modifications to the pressure zoning was achieved through the use of PRV stations. The project was completed under a tight schedule and short window of time to reduce delays with school schedules and daily traffic impacts.

KEY ELEMENTS

  • Upsized and placed approximately 4,000 LF of 16” water line in the right-of-way of busy Kathleen Ave.
  • Placed approximately 8,500 LF of 24” water line using acquired easements
  • Added PRV stations and redistributed pressure zones to enhance pressure to the northeast zone
