2001 State of Washington Partnership for Quality Transportation Award
Welch Comer Engineers, along with the City of Colville, Washington and WSDOT, received the top award in Washington from the Partnership for Quality Transportation (PQT) for the Colville 2000 Downtown Revitalization and Transportation Improvement Project. As the project engineers for Colville 2000, Welch Comer Engineers performed project planning, estimating, design, and construction management services. The firm also assisted the City secure over $11 million in grant funds to finance the project.
The Washington PQT award is presented during odd numbered years by WSDOT and other Washington public and private transportation organizations “to recognize exceptional accomplishments in highway construction and design.”
Phase 1 of the project was completed on-time and under-budget in 2000, and it included improvement of Wynne Street to arterial standards with pedestrian and streetscape enhancements. Phase 2 improvements include enhancement of U.S. 395 (Main Street) through Colville. Colville 2000 projects are nearing completion and include two roundabouts and an alternative truck route. Welch Comer has been an integral part in the design of these.
Welch Comer Engineers are gratified to have been recognized for our quality engineering services through the State of Washington’s top award.
